I can relate to what you're talking about, especially with work.
One thing that helps me is that I try to remind myself that the people I work with and the people above me are good people, but not even good people have all the answers and know what needs to be done. Sometimes the best of us can't see the road we must take and they are just as lost as we may feel.
By the way, I'm head Idiot. It's my unofficial title at work too!
